James Ayers

Winter Glow, 2022
Oil on Canvas

Nature is always evolving and is in constant flux. A landscape is completely different depending on the season, lighting and weather. When painting, James is constantly making choices to highlight this change and to emphasize the passage of time. James has spent a considerable amount of time in high plains of Colorado. Ever inspired by Cherry Creek, James photographed the landscape and documented how it changes over time. Winters are outstanding because of the contrast and “glow” the landscape gives off. Winter Glow is simple and monochromatic. Enchanting violets, greys and blues are in contrast with the pop of warm tones – the sun trying its best to warm the field below.
